Meet Nobby:
Nobby is a little lumpy, a little awkward, and completely comfortable with it. He has no interest in being polished. There is something rather wonderful about that.

Journal Day 40:
I almost fixed Nobby.

There were a few places that weren't quite even.
A shape that didn't sit exactly as I expected.
Little imperfections I could see because I made him.

And then I thought, leave him.

We spend an extraordinary amount of time correcting things.

Smoothing the edges.
Editing the sentence.
Hiding the awkward bit.
Trying to make the finished version look effortless.

But Nobby looks handmade.

Because he is.

There is evidence of the person who made him in every imperfect stitch.

And maybe that is the point.

Perfect things can be beautiful.

But imperfect things have fingerprints.

I think I'll take the fingerprints.
