Meet Mini Malley:
Mini Malley is a small, carefree duck with unmistakable youngest energy. Lighthearted, playful, and proudly wearing a tiny hat, Mini Malley moves through the world without overthinking. Quick to delight. Easy to love. Full of charm and just enough sparkle to turn something simple into a celebration.
Friends with Big Malley.
Journal Day 14:
Mini Malley arrived after a day that asked a lot of patience.
I stayed with a project that felt hard yesterday and, honestly, it stayed hard today. I pulled from three different patterns just to get the pieces I needed. I followed the same steps twice to make two feet and somehow ended up with two completely different sizes. Same instructions, I thought. Mostly the same process. Clearly not.
It came together anyway.
The finished piece feels like a home renovation held together with duct tape and hope. Improvised. A little chaotic. And somehow… delightful. I added a quick party hat and suddenly it was perfect. Exactly right as a birthday gift for a four year old. Proof that things do not need to be polished to be enough.
What did it teach me? Honestly, not much. And that feels important too.
Not every hard thing needs to become a lesson. Some things are just hard. It showed me where I still need more reps. It showed me that I can stick with something until it is done, or at least done enough.
It was no less full of heart. Just more frustrating.
After that, I took the same colours and made a smaller version. Mini Malley. No pressure. No second guessing. It came together easily. I added a hat and that felt easy too.
Sometimes doing a hard thing makes the next, smaller thing feel wonderful. Sometimes ease shows up not because you planned it, but because you stayed long enough for it to arrive.
