Meet Sunshine:
Sunshine is loud in the best way. Big, bright, and not interested in subtlety. She takes up space, leans into it, and brings a kind of easy joy that does not need to be refined to be valid. There is a freedom to her, like she arrived to shake things up and then stayed because it felt good.

Journal Day 16:
When I first started crocheting, I bought all the fluffy, oversized yarn. It felt novel. Playful. Making big, soft, cute things was part of the joy.

Over time, that changed. My preference shifted toward thinner, scratchier yarn. The kind that reminds me of sweaters my grandmother’s friends would make. Classic. Nuanced. Something that feels like it will last.

Sunshine is the opposite of all of that.

And somehow, exactly what was needed.

In the middle of a long winter, I found myself reaching back for something big and bright. Something less considered. Less refined. Just free and fun.

This one did not ask to be subtle. It did not try to fit into the direction my practice has been going. It just showed up as something different.

And it felt good to let it.
